Paying for cover should take a minute.
The problem. Bascule's policyholders pay by invoice, and every payment has to land against the right invoice and policy in FileMaker, where the team works. The aim was a payment a policyholder can make in a few steps, recorded without anyone keying it in.
The approach. We built a portal on the invoices FileMaker already holds. A policyholder finds the invoice with its number and zip code, checks what it covers and pays by card in the payment provider's secure frame, and the payment is recorded against the invoice.
Bascule's payment portal, rebuilt with invented details: an equine invoice checked before paying, with its amount, its status, due date and balance, the policy's details and the four horses it covers, and the buttons to pay it or to pay the policy in full.
Found in seconds
The invoice number and zip code, or a link from PolicyHub.
Checked before paying
The amount, the due date and the horses it covers.
Paid by card, or in full
In the provider's secure frame, with a receipt at once.
Three steps from the invoice to the receipt.
The portal step by step, with invented details: the invoice being found by its policy type, number and zip code; the invoice checked, with its amount, status, policy and horses; the policy paid in full; and the receipt with its reference.
Find the invoice
The policyholder chooses equine or farm and ranch, then types the invoice number and zip code from their invoice. A link from PolicyHub fills all three in and goes straight to the invoice.
Check it before paying
The amount, its status and due date, the policy it belongs to and the horses it covers, read live from the invoice in Bascule's FileMaker systems.
One invoice, or the whole policy
Pay this invoice, or settle everything left on the policy in one payment. The card goes into the payment provider's own secure frame, so its details never touch Bascule's systems.
A receipt straight away
The payment is recorded against the invoice, and the policyholder has a reference the moment it is taken.
What the portal does
Built in Next.js on Vercel, calling Bascule's FileMaker systems for every invoice and policy.
- Find an invoice by policy type, invoice number and zip code, or straight from a link in PolicyHub
- The invoice checked before paying: the amount, status and due date, the policy, and the horses or location it covers
- Card payments in the provider's secure frame, so card details never touch Bascule's systems
- One invoice paid, or the whole policy settled in full
- AutoPay, set up and managed by the policyholder
- A policy view for policyholders: their cover, their horses, their claims and their details
- A receipt with its reference the moment the payment is taken
Where it stands
The portal takes Bascule's policyholder payments at payment.basculeuw.com, built to process more than $70 million a year.
PolicyHub links straight to it from every invoice, so an agent or Bascule's team can send a policyholder the exact invoice to pay.
