Every policy, horse and claim in one place for agents and underwriters

PolicyHub, the platform Bascule Underwriting's agents and team share: equine and farm policies and the horses on them, quotes, claims and commission, on the web and read live from the FileMaker systems the business runs on.

FileMaker, live

Everything about a policy, wherever it lived.

The problem. An equine policy is a schedule of horses, each with its own value, cover and history; a farm policy is locations and liabilities. That detail lived in FileMaker layouts, claim boards, online forms and a helpdesk, so agents relied on Bascule's team for it, and the team moved between tools to find it.

The approach. We built PolicyHub as the one place both work. Agents see their book, quote and follow claims; Bascule's team underwrites, handles claims and runs commission. It reads policies, horses and invoices live from FileMaker, so nothing is copied and the business never had to stop.

PolicyHub, rebuilt with invented data: an equine policy on its Horses tab, with the term, the agent and the premium along the top, a schedule of five horses on the left and the first horse open on the right with its coverages, limits, deductibles and premiums.

Every horse on the policy

Each one with its value, its coverages and its loss payees.

Read live from FileMaker

Policies, horses and invoices come straight from the systems Bascule runs on.

Opened area by area

Each area opens to agencies by a flag when it is ready.

From the quote to the claim, in one place.

PolicyHub's screens, rebuilt with invented data: a horse's coverages on an equine policy, the policy's premium and commission split, the farm and ranch quote wizard with its nine steps, and the claims workbench with its counts and the vet reports being chased.

01

Every horse and its cover

An equine policy is a schedule of horses. Open one to see its value, each coverage with its limit, deductible and premium, and who holds an interest in it, read live from FileMaker.

02

The premium and the commission, worked out

The policy's overview adds up the premium with its surcharge and tax, and shows Bascule's team how the commission splits between the agent, the insurer and Bascule.

03

Quotes that save as the agent works

A farm and ranch quote runs through nine steps, from the agency and the customer to the locations, the cover and the billing. Every change is saved as it is made, so an agent can stop and pick it up later.

04

Claims at a glance

The workbench shows the claims team what is open, what is new this quarter, what has no adjuster yet and what has been open longest.

05

Vet reports chased for you

Vets send their reports through a secure link and are reminded every seven days. After two reminders the claim is flagged for someone on the team to step in.

What PolicyHub does

Built in Next.js on Supabase, reading Bascule's FileMaker systems live, with PostHog flags to open each area to agencies when it is ready.

  • Equine and farm policies with every version: what is insured, the cover, the premium and the commission
  • Each horse on a policy with its value, its coverages, limits and deductibles, and its loss payees
  • Quote wizards for equine and for farm and ranch cover, saving as the agent works
  • Scanned application forms read by AI into a draft quote
  • Claims from first notice to settlement: a public claim form, vet reports by secure link, a workbench and an audit log
  • Renewal, past-due and quote performance reports, and commission for Bascule's finance team
  • Agency profiles with their team, licences and E&O cover, kept in step with FileMaker
  • Dictation in notes, and news and documents for every agency on the home screen

Where it stands

PolicyHub is live for Bascule's team and its agencies, and it changes every day: more than a thousand changes since February 2026, each one previewed before it is released.

Equine opens to each agency when it is ready, by a PostHog flag, and the areas still on FileMaker move across one at a time.

What we used

  • Next.jsPolicyHub itself
  • SupabaseSign-in, permissions and PolicyHub's own records
  • FileMakerPolicies, horses, coverages and invoices, read live
  • ClaudeReading scanned application forms into a draft quote
  • PostHogHow agents use it, and flags to release each area
  • VercelHosting, with a preview of every change
